My Priorities
Housing and Environmental Protection
Affordable Housing and Protecting Our Environment
Housing affordability is a key issue for our city. I’ve supported every Housing Authority project and fought against short-term vacation rentals that impact our housing supply. I’ve also worked to halt the construction of new hotels to focus on housing needs.
For environmental protection, I’ve supported limits on cruise ships, the banning of single-use plastics, and the creation of a city Sustainability Department. I believe in creating policies that balance growth with sustainability.
Investing in Our Youth for a Better Tomorrow
Youth Initiatives
I am proud to serve as a member of the Youth Wellness Coalition and work alongside local organizations to prevent drug and alcohol use. Through Public Service Announcements, safer school routes, and after-school programs, I have collaborated to ensure our youth have access to safe and healthy environments. I’ve consistently supported public libraries, parks, and school district initiatives to provide clean, open spaces for our community’s youth.
Supporting Local Businesses and Economic Growth
Business Support
I’ve always believed in fostering a thriving local economy. From simplifying business permits to supporting the closure of State Street during the pandemic, my focus has been on helping businesses adapt and succeed. I’ve worked with various chambers of commerce and advocated for initiatives like the Downtown Santa Barbara Business Improvement District to support our business community. I’ve also championed free parking in city lots to encourage downtown shopping and dining.
A Compassionate Approach to Ending Homelessness
Addressing Homelessness
I’ve participated in every homeless point-in-time count since 2018, advocating for the opening of a city day shelter and supporting organizations like SB ACT and PATH. I’ve organized collaborations with religious leaders to address homelessness and have volunteered time to create Public Service Announcements to raise awareness. Homelessness is a complex issue, but through collaboration and compassion, we can make meaningful progress.
Building a Stronger Westside Community
Westside Community
I’m proud to have served the Westside, helping with infrastructure improvements like adding new sidewalks and upgrading lighting. I’ve worked with local organizations and agencies to keep our neighborhoods safe and clean, from graffiti removal to improving lighting. Whether organizing BBQs, blood drives, or clean-ups, my focus remains on fostering community and addressing local issues.
Supporting Our First Responders
Public Safety
Public safety is a top priority. From the Thomas Fire to local flooding events, I’ve supported our first responders by advocating for higher wages and modern equipment. I’ve backed initiatives like the Police Oversight Committee and regional dispatch upgrades for 911 services. By collaborating with various agencies, we ensure our community remains safe while supporting those who protect it.
